Blendtec Vs Vitamix - My take

Blendtech Vs Vitamix

Feature

Blendtec

Vitamix

Wet Vs Dry

Same Jar allows for both wet and dry grinding.

Separate Jars for Wet and Dry

Blade strength

Blade is blunt, the pulverizing capability is purely from the speed of the motor.  Its closer to the grind on a stone.

It also does not nick your hand, when trying to recover food.

Blade is very sharp. So it cuts finely rather than grind.

Since the blade is very sharp, it nicked me all the time. Had to waste a lot of food due to blood in jar! L

Size of Jar/Machine

Wide and Short, can definitely keep on counter.

The Wide jar has an angled side that allows for food to automatically turn to the blade.

Machine/Motors have pretty much the same size.

Tall and Slim. Cannot store atop counter.

The Jar is tall and lean with rounded sides, with a plunger. So you will have to use the plunger to get all the food to the blade.

PS:  Newer models may not have plunger.

Machine/Motors have pretty much the same size.

Dishwasher

Dishwasher safe. I have used it in the bottom rack and its going good so far.

I cannot load this into the dishwasher even if I wanted to, its too tall.

Heating Component

I did not notice this until I pureed Spinach. Blendtech needs more time to get the soups to the same heat as Vitamix.

In Non-soup settings as well, Blend tech was cooler. Which meant my Dosa batter did not cook while I was grinding it.

Faster heating in Soup settings. But in general food gets heated, whether you intend it to or not.

Which meant my dosa batter cooks a bit while I grind it.

Patent

Blendtech owns the original patent. Vitamix initially copied Blendtech’ Jar Shape for which they were sued. Hence the new Tall / lean jar shape with the plunger.

I bought both Mixers and tested them out and preferred blendtech as the Wet/Dry Combo and the Dishwasher aspect was more important for me than Soups!

Please note I have NOT tested the latest models of vitamix. For more info check out Blender Guy Youtube vidoes for comparing Blendtec and Vitamix
