Gongura Dal 




Ingredients 


1 cup chana Dal, cooked in 2 cups water 

1/2 cup water 

1 cup Gongura leaves, finely chopped 

2 green chilies 

3-5 curry leaves 

Turmeric 

2 tbsp vegetable oil 

1 tsp mustard seeds 

2- 3 dry red chili broken into pieces 

Salt 


Procedure 


In a heave bottom pan, heat the oil. Add the mustard seeds and wait until the pop! Add the green chilies, dry chilies and hing. Sauté well for about 30 Seconds. Add in the chopped Gongura leaves, turmeric. Sprinkle with some salt. Salt helps the leaves release water, and air in cooking. One the Gongura leaves are completely wilted, add the cooked chana dal. Salt to taste. Close with lid and cook for 5 minutes. Turn the stove off. Add the curry leaves and close the lid for 5 mins for the aromatics to do their job! 


Serve with hot rice and ghee! It’s splendid with rotis!
